I think this is a very handsome fly, Mesembrina meridiana a muscid fly, also known as the 'noon fly'.

That's very interesting! I was curious as to whether there would be a difference noticed... The first shot (which I actually shot second) was the first attempt on my part to use Adobe RGB 1998 colour space right through my image processing, from shooting through to jpeg output... I wonder if I missed a step somewhere, or if this is the normal result.
Harold, are you using a browser which uses embedded colour profiles in images? (Firefox 3 can do this but I don't think does it by default, you have to turn it on manually).
