Betty: I seen a couple of raids when I was kid. One time in our own yard, and the nest was in front of our house.
This ant came from a nest near the kindergarten. They just crossed the sandbox when I go there with my son. I thought it is a raid, they did not carry anything, but they was not aggressive with the ant on the destination nest. And the ants were mixed, so I think I found their nest. Last time I visited them I did not see any ant activity. And most of the time only the slaves are visible, so it is not easy to find their nests. I think they raid when the air is humid enough (this is when ants mate too). It is quite hard to find them other time.
