Hi there,

Thanks to Rik and Charlie for clarifying the points on colour temperature in mixed lighting situations.

Up to now I've always used flash for my macro work. I usually set my cameras to the flash preset colour balance, and then adjust it if necessary when converting from RAW.

If I can get these photo floods I have up and running, I would try the tungsten preset to test the results. If it wasn't very good, I would create a custom balance for each setup.

I had in mind to use a low power flash, with or without filters, for background illumination. Not sure entirely what that would do to the colour balance.

Thanks for the comments.

Bye for now
