Probably Thomisid Crab spider

Post by zzffnn »

This is probably a Thomisid Crab spider? Female? I am not positive. My friend William Banik said it is likely a Misumena vatia.

Taken with Raynox DCR-250 over 300mm lens on micro 4/3 camera. On sensor magnification is about 3x. This photo has no crop. Photographed on 6/26/2019 in Houston, Texas.

Aww cute.

I love tiny spiders, just a dot to the eye but under magnification they are fascinating.

Thank you, aveslux. Me and my 5 year old son also think macro invertebrates, especially spiders, are very cute. He especially like to zoom in onto those eye balls and stare at them, so I make sure to get them sharply in focus
