Hi Gang
I was working in the shop making some trim material
out of Maple, and I noticed an interesting result during
the “rip” operation.
The Maple shavings were gathering like a town meeting
at the edge of the blade insert. Upon inspection, I noticed
the material was forming a cotton-ball type cluster, and I
thought it may be interesting to take a few shots.
I can only surmise that this build up of small shavings was
due to me taking a very small cut when I was doing the final
pass to ensure the tongue of the molding was at the desired size.
I have added shots of the subject in my setup. I wanted oblique
lighting and a sense of some dimension, so I decided to do old school
with one light source and a reflector.
