I shot my 1954-S RPM#4 testing coin (at this point probably one of the world's most photographed coins) using the 105IXL3p5 at f4 and 2.7x magnification. This is thus one composite image of a 3x4 panorama. Still need to do a full panorama shoot, but probably not with this subject. I have a few others waiting in the wings. Effective aperture is f15, so not ideal, but the image quality at 100% seems excellent, colors are well saturated, and contrast is good. Coverage is essentially perfect on APS-C. Take a look at the image here:

Edited to add: the lighting was done within 30mm, consistent with what was needed for the WD of the 5x Mitutoyo. Compare this image with that taken with the 95PN with higher lighting angle:

They were both taken at 2.7x so if you zoom in to any particular feature, you can make a close comparison. You can really see the difference between a "high angle" vs "low angle" lighting style in these two pics.

I'm thinking I will need to shoot the same coin with 3x4 panorama to see if the 105IXL3p5 has better image quality. Between these shots I don't see a lot of improvement, but the lighting style differences make it hard to tell.

Edit 2: for reference, the 105IXL3p5 is operating at f15, where the 95PN is at f12.
