David,

Certainly a bargain price!

"Not Available to Australia" :(

New seller '0' feedback......everyone has to start somewhere.

Hello Craig,

I had overlooked that, but send me a PM if you want one. From the address, I believe this is Nikon selling surplus stock.

This seller probably doesn't need feedback. It appears to be none other than Nikon Instruments USA who are indeed located in Melville New York.

Slightly embarased to admit I bought one, not knowing for sure if I can use it. I had been looking for a Nikon finite 4x "N" Plan, with the larger 0.13 NA. I have a non-Nikon "standard" 4x /0.1 SPlan 160 that's been working well for me, but was hoping to upgrade someday to the N Plan, but haven't seen any come available lately (lost one about a month ago at >$110).

So when these came up today, I thought I recall previous discussion here that the "W"s were just as usable as non-Ws for the (dry) macro work we all do. Is that correct? If 'yes', I celibrate and wait on the USPS. If not, . . . you may see a single 4x W go up again in a week or so.

Drat, all gone! At $40, this would have been a fun lens to play with. A friend of mine wants me to photograph creatures that live in water, and I can imagine approaches to doing this with a water immersion lens. Also, 4x is a very useful range to work in.

Oh, well.

Tim,

You should find the thread (linked below) encouraging

That was fast, it is a very nice lens, I had it but the truth is that I used it very few times. Works great on APS-C but on Full frame corners are bad
For 40$ is a big bargain

The tip is a conical piece of glass with probably a flat end but not necessarily.
It is called a dipping cone.
They have also been made as separate attachments. There are also similar cones used for ophthalmic use on slit lamp microscopes.
