water mite

Hi folks,

I found this water mite in my hay infusion. Oblique illumination gave nice details:

Interesting side-on view Bernhard. I usually, if not always, find that I am looking down on these annoyingly fast moving creatures. Fortunately they do occasionally stop (I wonder what triggers action/inaction?) and give us a chance to get a shot in (or in your case 10 shots).

The almost 3D'ish results you've achieved in this pic are spectacularly detailed, providing quite different anatomical "information" to a brightfield image.

I haven't tried using oblique illumination yet but seeing some of the amazing images on this forum I'm becoming more and more interested.

Nice work Bernhard. Oblique illumination is capable of such nice results.
