Todays fungi 28-08-2008

Post by lauriek »

A couple of interesting fungi today, I think these first ones may be Galerina marginata, but I'm not remotely 100% sure!

And this one is strange, its lilac coloured and covered in sort of 'fluff', which is where the purply colour seems to come from. Nothing in my books looks quite like it. At the moment there's only one specimen I can see, although there is the base of another stem next to this, so I don't want to cut it up!

Any thoughts on IDs much appreciated!

Edited to change the second one to better picture, this one has had levels tweaks, and is a short stack of 5 images. I hope to get back to shoot this one again tomorrow.

I think you are right. The jizz is spot on including the fleshy semi-apical ring.

As to the second, cripes. Calocybe ionides is purple, but not floccose. If I remember I will have a think about this.

The second one seems to have been partially grazed by a slug.

That first picture has a great mood, and on top of that show different stages of the shape developing. I'm learning something here :-)

Thanks guys!

The lilac one has faded now, and another one has appeared so I pulled one up to have a look underneath...

Image

I don't know if that might help with an ID, I'm still stuck on this one having gone through all my fungi books!

Good call, I'm pretty sure you are right, it's certainly got the look...

I did have a sniff and didn't notice anything but this specimen is growing quite close to a busy road so that could have clouded my ability to smell!

Thanks again Leif!
