Papillio ulysses ("Blue Mountain Swallowtail")

Post by Charles Krebs »

Well... it was too hot to do real work here so I decided to take a little break in my "sabbatical" from the forum, and take a few pictures today.

Wow! Lots going on here... new people and plenty of great images! Hope I can make a dent in the pile of stuff I need to get done this summer and get back here more regularly again.

Here are two shots from different sections of the wings of a Blue Mountain Swallowtail butterfly. The first is a modest magnification... probably not even 1:1 on sensor.

Charlie,

The second one had me looking :smt002 - so it is on the underside of the hind-wing.

Fascinating!

Both lovely Charles, the first shows you don't always need mega-magnification for a superb bug composition!!
