Very nice images resembles DIC I will read the article you linked to - the dried onion cells are particularly nice.

Saul, the Sanderson prism stuff is totally new to me. I've had a quick read through the paper you referenced, but I have to confess that I'm still unclear on how to adapt the technique for use with macro/micro optics. Can you provide some more information about that? What did you have to do, to make it work in your system?

There is one more article by S. R. Sanderson, which I found googling the net.
Setup is based on the DIY condenser and slider adapter for the Microphot DIC intermediate tube and couple polarizers - on the illuminator and above the slider (original Microphot's slot)
Test setup is far away from satisfactory - too thin polycarbonate plates which I could get pretty quickly, are twisting at same point, making distorted picture (of course, there are ways how to stabilize it, but for the proof of the concept it was enough).
I got a thicker (5mm) plate few days ago (Aliexpress, very long shipping)), but it is too big for this setup, have to find a nice way to cut it into the pieces.
