First DIC attempt. 40x UIS objective with the U-DIC40 UIS2 prism. Does it look good enough? Hopefully purchasing a UIS2 40x is no longer necessary.
Diatoms from Oamaru, NZ.
I adjusted the prism to get a neutral background colour. The U-DICT can be adjusted to create all kinds of interesting colour casts.
100x up next, I only have 2 UIS 100x objectives. Hopefully they work with this UIS2 prism.

100x, +500 (!!!) sharpening in Capture One!
I am surprised and pleased with the result, even though there's prism mismatch going on.

Cute little thing, looks like a fidget spinner. Some tearing can be seen on the bottom left, I guess that's where the needle went for micromanipulation.
It can be easily fixed, so can the white dots. I'm gonna left it there.

very nice and good enough for me

Skillfully done. Looks like your quest for DIC has been rewarded.
Re: Diatoms DIC
Your result is very nice. Did you do any background subtraction or other correction?
Re: Diatoms DIC
I don't think it gets much better than that. Looks like you've put together a very nice set-up!

Re: Diatoms DIC
Thanks for the kind and motivating words!
Yeah, for the second 100x stack. It was pretty easy since only one diatom was involved. It's decent without a background swap, all I had to do with stamp out the artefacts and/or use ZS' tools. You can see some of those artefacts in the 40x stack.
