Pau,
no, thank YOU for giving me some task to do in these days/weeks... of house arrest
the Nikon stack took almost 2X more steps than the Oly and result is obviously worse. Not worth using it without coverglass, if one have another, no-coverglass 20X.
Macro_Cosmos,
yep, NA is not everything, especially if you don't use the objective as intended.
Scales are of Parnassius apollo:

Yeah, wish I can afford a good DIC microscope though.Scarodactyl wrote:The DIC rating means that the Nikon is strain-free so polarized light shouldn't pose a problem.Macro_Cosmos wrote:Nikon lacks the coverglass, not sure how well it will work with my slides for polarised light.
I'm actually not sure how thick the coverglass of my samples are. They were made for me, I don't have the knowledge in chemistry to make those (I should learn though).
The seller has like 30 of these lenses listed at $100 each. It's pretty cheap for what it is. Could make a fun experiment. Too bad the shipping is going to be very jumpy because of the human malware situation. It's definitely worth a try.

Hello Macrero,
My lens doesn‘t have that.

Hi Adi,
you mean the spring-system behaviour or the flare/haze in the final image?
Btw, I've had this objective in the past, and I can't recall for sure, but I'd swear it did not behave this way, i.e. the front part retracts, but the rear one stays in place. But my memory may be failing me.
Best,
- Macrero
