Interesting swarf

Post by Pizzazz »

Hi Gang

OK, I am working on a cabinet for a family member. What happens when
you take your router with a 1/2 inch top-bearing bit and plunge it through
thin plywood to cut a rectangular opening?

If you are lucky, you find the round swarf created by the initial plunge into
the material.

The top disk fits into the end of the router bit. Black marks are obviously
from heat buildup on the inside of the cutting edge.

Woodworking surely gives some interesting shooting opportunities! Sometimes I shoot hand plane shavings myself.
