Male mosquito.
Nikon D750 microscope lens lwd M10x/0,22 on bellows. Magnification 8,5x 251 shots at 10 micron. Light: 2 Jansjo led from the sides and a flash on the top. Diy macrostage manual.

Wow! This is quite beautiful as well as interesting!

Impressive. The detail around and through the hair is very clean.

How do you tell a male mosquito from a midge?
I'm in Canada! Isn't that weird?

This one has a proboscis, a midge doesn’t have it. So it’s a mosquito. The antennae of a female has les hairs.

Thanks. I just went back to look at my image. No proboscis.
