I had some ideas to make it more universal, like to use for UV - main UV source from the back, from the top would be a normal LED for observation ( to avoid photobleaching). Or vice versa. And flash option, of course.

Hi Carlos !
BX40/41 is in the process.
Trying to get right measurements (one our forum member is helping me, I do not have access to the BX 40/41)

Design will be similar as above, do not want to use pins - it is simpler, but with flash, housing weight is bigger, so...

Olympus BHS adapter is done, BX50/60 in the process, will post photos later

Saul,

That's really a good concept and very nice implementation!! You have the LED for continuous and the speedlight for flash, best of both methods!!

Nicely done :D

Saulius, this seems excellent stuff.
I would like to see some comments and samples about how to get Kolher illumination, the advantages of the models with fly eye lens...and so

I've linked it at my FAQ:How (and why) to use electronic flash at the microscope?

Saul,

Another excellent combination of LED and Flash. As we've shown on another thread an LED, or LED COB simply can't compete with the Xeon flash tube in terms of short high energy optical bursts helpful for "freezing" vibration effects.

1ms seems about the limit for practical LED use, but you've solved that by using both the LED for modeling and Spedlight for Flash, which can easily produce 100us bursts!

Well done!!

Now can we entice you to make one of these LED Speedlight combos for macro use outside the microscope :D
