Peacock feather

Post by Charles Krebs »

Finally getting the MM-11 set up nearly the way I intended and was looking for some subject matter to try out the current configuration. Johan had posed a question a couple weeks ago and used a very nice peacock feather shot as an illustration. Well it so happens that my daughter and granddaughter really like peacock feathers, and some were readily accessible.... so here goes!

Charlie,

I've seeing many of your awesome images but these ones are real wonders.
Incredible colours and detail, not saying about composition. World class !

Cool beans, you've made these nicely restrained :). No doubt I'll come back to these sometime myself too, as they're so convenient

Superb. Have Mitutoyo been on to you to use your images in their advertising brochures yet?

I agree with all the former comments but I prefer 1, 2 and 4 (more abstract)

What illumination setup did you use?

Thanks so much for the kind remarks.

This is one of those subjects that can be explored for hours. Because of the iridescence, it's also one that can look pretty poor if the lighting is not right.

Pau...

Here it is. Same as I have used before for iridescent subjects. (Don't typically use the full 180 degree dome with non-iridescent subjects these days).
The three Ikea LED lights are moved around until I like what I see.

Rogelio...
Yes, the superwide head is in place now, complete with nicely rotating camera mount on top. Really pleasure to use the MM-11 set up in this way.

I noticed the "hooklets" while looking over the feather and here is a look with the 50X Olympus LMPLFLN.
