If you're intending further experimentation with this approach, I'd strongly recommend lining the internal surfaces with reflective matl - eg ali cooking foil.
When messing around with similar, I also tried the matl used for milk / juice cartons (with aluminised inner surface) ... which saved the (minor) hassle of the 'lining' step - but wasn't as effective.
I'd also intended to make one out of tinplate (ex baked bean tin or similar) to gain the extra stiffness / rigidity - for transport etc - but as I started using an external flash + bracket, never bothered.
Whilst I'd (now) miss the versatility offered by external flash, the lo-tech approach has one big advantage - minimum additional weight
