Colour-coded stacks

Post by gpmatthews »

The following images are entirely experimental and follow from discussions on colour coding of photomicrographic stacks. The images have been contrast adjusted and minimally sharpened on resize. I am posting them to see whether they suggest any useful techniques to anyone else...

The first image is a reference image with no attempt to colour the image.

The next two images were stacks using DIC with compensation plate. The polariser was rotated a small increment with each successive focus change, thus creating a colour gradient with change of focus.

The 3D renderings are using the Helicon software to create them from the depth map data.

Though we lean upon the same balustrade, the colours of the mountain are different.
