The following images are entirely experimental and follow from discussions on colour coding of photomicrographic stacks. The images have been contrast adjusted and minimally sharpened on resize. I am posting them to see whether they suggest any useful techniques to anyone else...
The first image is a reference image with no attempt to colour the image.
The next two images were stacks using DIC with compensation plate. The polariser was rotated a small increment with each successive focus change, thus creating a colour gradient with change of focus.
Blue through to orange
- starting at highest point and focusing downwards
Orange through to dark blue
- starting at highest point and focusing downwards
The 3D renderings are using the Helicon software to create them from the depth map data.
