micro scanning

Post by soldevilla »

Some time ago someone wrote about 3d printed reproductions of microscopic elements. But I am not able to find that thread and now I am very interested in that topic, especially the method of scanning the original. I have a query from some friends and I think I could use the same technique for the problem they are asking me.

Does anyone remember anything about this?

Thank you very much

If you refer to blepharopsis' desmids models from confocal data, here you have

Thank you very much, Paul. I remembered another thread, but the result is the same. What I don't understand yet is the process of creating the 3D. It starts with the volumes that a stack creates (Helicon can export an OBJ I think). Many stacks are made from various points of view and are combined in some way?

Are you referring to photogrammetry?

Here is an article, not from here but doing the same thing you mention: https://gigazine.net/gsc_news/en/202205 ... -meshroom/

Meshroom is the pretty well known free software, Agisoft Metashape & 3DF Zephyr are two that are more commercialized / advanced.
