Just recently I have had to move my substage condenser upward to allow focus on any slide. At this point, the condenser is elevated to a distance above the stage such that the condenser is rubbing against the underside of the slide. At first I thought it might be my eyesight, but viewing a micrometer slide through the camera LCD still requires moving the condenser upward to attain focus. The scope is a SWIFT trinocular that uses a beam splitter to direct images to the camera tube and the eyepieces simultaneously. I switched out the Abbe condensers and still have the same problem.
Any ideas?

Re: A condenser quandry
Problem solved. A few years ago the "finger" spring holding the slide in on the original Swift stage failed, and I replaced the stage with an Olympus stage, securing it with epoxy. Over time, the stage had started tilting. Remounting solved the problem.
