Raynox DCR-250 adjustable magnification

Post by Macron »

i have the Raynox DCR-250 and i would like to make it a adjustable magnification,
i was wondering if i took the Raynox DCR-250 and added it to a adjustable focus helicoid adapter and on the other end add Raynox DCR-150
that way i could adjust the helicoid adapter from 150 to 250 magnification.
i have the Viltrox AF 23/1.4 XF Lens for my fuji xt-3
i added fuji xt3 macro adapter with electronic 10mm Extension Tube and its to much for that type of lens the object distance to way to close.
and i think a 5 mm would work but never herd or seen any for sale, so my guess is combine the Raynox DCR-250 with the Raynox DCR-150
and the helicoid adapter in the middle, would this work like a zoom lens?
would this even work at all?

The combination of DCR-250 and DCR-150 will be even stronger than the DCR-250 alone.

Changing the separation between those two will change the overall power by a small amount, but I doubt that you would perceive it as anything "like a zoom lens".

Separating the Raynox lenses will also introduce a strong tendency to vignette. That problem will be worse with short lenses behind it, like a 23/1.4.

As a matter of practice, I expect the result would be "not working".

i like to shoot small/medium/larger from a small ant to a medium spider to a large butterfly so i bought 3 Raynox DCR that can be stacked.
i bought one Raynox DCR-150 and two Raynox DCR-250

1 Raynox DCR-150 (small Magnification)
2 Raynox DCR-150 with Raynox DCR-250 (medium Magnification)
3 Raynox DCR-250 with another Raynox DCR-250 (larger Magnification)
4 Raynox DCR-250 with another Raynox DCR-250 with a Raynox DCR-150 (huge Magnification) have not tested yet.
to add more adjustment these lens can be used forward or reversed for Magnification adjustment
and to add more adjustment im now using a fuji zoom lens to adjust Magnification by zooming.
i think Raynox sells a 3 x Magnification lens but then again your stuck with 3 Magnification.
when i take macro shots i find it much better to have 3 separate lens that can be stacked for more adjustment rather then be stuck with 1 lens
ever get stuck using a lens then for the shot the lens is not enough Magnification or its to much Magnification?

the spider below is very small you can only see 1 color and its on his back when viewing it with just your eyes
and you cant see any color by his face like the front legs until its magnified,
in other words if your looking at the spider with your eyes he looks all black with 1 color on his back.

i dont see any image samples. i have fuji xt-3 camera and i use a option in camera called focus bracking(BKT) it works like a focus rail but this is much better and faster.
FUJI xt-3 will not let you use just any lens you want for focus bracking(BKT)

you could of got the raynox closer with i think a 67 to 43mm Step Down Rings Filter Adapter ring
and get rid of that 52 mm to 43 mm

Hello,

I don't know if AF of the EF70-200L works with Fuji.
But you can use a tele-zoom that you already have.
Zoom and focus of the tele-lens is used.
I use the focus-bracketing of the EOS M6M2:

The first one with the EF70-200L 4 IS USM and Raynox DCR-250

M6M2, EF 70-200L, F5, 0.8s, DCR-250, 161*FB2

The second one with the EF100L Macro 2.8 IS USM and Raynox DCR-250
