Yet to make the switch to infinites as I find Nikon's finite are adequate for my work. This tiny moth, Psyche casta, has a strange life history but this is not the place.
Photographed the genitalia with the 20x, on bellows, D810 (full frame), Zerene PMax, as part of my project documenting moth genitalia (often necessary to get a positive ID).

” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”

Lovely images!
Admin would certainly not object to hearing more about the life history. A treatise would be inappropriate, but a paragraph or two would be quite welcome.

That genitalia is beautifully lit. What was the set-up?
Also, is this the the 160mm tube length non-apo objective w/coverslip?

Yes, the non-apo CFN Plan Achromat; the 20x Apo has a whopping 0.75 NA. I do have the 4x CFN Plan Apo.
Genitalia mounted on a slide in Canada Balsam, with coverslip.
I use a 'decapitated' (i.e., objective arm sawn off) Olympus BH2 microscope stand to move the slide in X Y Z axes, transmitted light from flash below slide with light bounced off a white card.
Camera and lens mounted vertically on an old drill stand; BH2 vertical adjustment down to 2 microns

Thanks for that info! That's a nice inexpensive lens and you are getting great results from it.
