Very interesting! Looks like the molecules to be tracked are ~200nm across. Zap them with lasers to make them emit, then watch the emission and move a 3D piezo stage to keep the emission on-screen. All done at 100x, so the image is ~20um across. I guess the piezo stage movements are then tracked to model the path. Lots of engineering involved, but seems achievable. I'm not sure what sort of resolutions you end up but you don't need that much to follow the emissions.
