Tiny Robots TED Talk

Post by svbreakaway »

I don't know it this is appropriate for this site, but with the discussion of silicon wafers,
here are some tiny robots built on wafers. The body is approx 80um x 55um.
I copied their scale from the left to show the size.

This youtube link starts at 8:44: https://youtu.be/1-_pzQqo7c0?t=524
Give it 5 seconds for the "Skip Ad" button to become enabled.

At 10:30 one gets trampled by a Paramecium.

This is a screen capture from the video showing the size (in the range of a human hair).
Those are 4 little legs.

I think Tiny Robots would be a great name for an Emo band.

The world will be a different place that's for sure. Pretty cool.

Maybe useful for subject positioning in place of my ham fists...

I'm not sure how fine the hypodermic needles of which they speak, go.
I cadged some from a dentist for dainty things.

When I was an undergrad I did a stint at a place in a group which contained the tubeworks Accles and Pollock. The company was set up to make tubes for armamants, bicycle tubing, golf shafts and other things.

A German company claimed to have made the world record finest diameter tube.
A&P asked for a sample, to prove their claims, and it duly arrived. So A&P made a tube to go inside it, and another to go inside that. A&P went on to claim the record, and a use was found for the tubing: -artificial insemination of mosquitos.

"If you build it, they will come." (Yeah, I know it's a misquote, but that's more applicable here than the original.)

interesting thing!

I had certain problems with cash in flow as of lately, and had to resort to this rather emergent fix of taking out the quick cash loan... Never again. Don’t get me wrong, they worked like clockwork (view it here with all the fees and conditions), but I had to roll it over cos my situation did not exactly improve overnight. Wasn’t fun having the debt hanging over my head.
