I am surpirised to find how many educational establishments make material generally available. Many in the USA. This one,
http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/course/ent425/ ... index.html
which I explored after following a specific link of Rik's, covers a range, from a beginner level.
There are lists of other resources here:
http://www.entlibrary.org/Teacher/index.cfm
http://insected.arizona.edu/www.htm
The UK is less well endowed it seems, with individual course tutorials which are so readable, but there's a list of lists or links here
http://bubl.ac.uk/link/e/entomology.htm
I'm sure there will be others.

Great site for insect field collecting equipment, specimen storage cabinets, microscope slides, aquatic equipment, night collecting gear and more: https://bioquip.com. They also have a large, quality selection of foreign insect specimens.

Scott, thanks for reviving this thread. Indeed, BioQuip is an excellent supplier. I've heard that they've had a hard time during Covid, so it's nice to be reminded that they're still in business.

Yes, I've been worried about BioQuip too. Its a good reminder that they have several types of UV light rigs for attracting insects. I've been meaning to hit them up for one.

Re: Entomology, Resources
I just ran across the following entry, in the Winter 2021 issue, News of The Lepidopterists' Society.

If anyone knows of suitable leads, I expect they would appreciate hearing.BioQuip Products, Inc
Christopher J Fall, V.P.-General Manager
Dear Members of the Lepidopterists' Society,
We are writing to inform you that the Fall family has made the difficult decision to sell BioQuip Products, Inc. Our family has owned and operated the company since 1956 when it was purchased from Dr. Rudi H. T. Mattoni by Richard P. Fall. We have invested a combined 180 years of our lives in BioQuip with the charge of supporting the science of entomology on all levels. We do not have a third generation to replace us and need to find a new owner(s) who will be dedicated to nurturing and growing the company, as we have, keeping BioQuip intact.
We are asking the membership to help us locate a suitable buyer(s) for the company. This is a sensitive issue, and we want to do all we can to keep BioQuip providing all the high quality equipment and supplies that entomologists need worldwide. We also want to thank the membership for all the support and loyalty you have demonstrated over the past 65 years of Fall Family ownership.
Most Sincerely
Chris, Louise, and Ken Fall

Re: Entomology, Resources
That is a sad development. I have bought from them since I was a youngster, eagerly receiving their catalog in the mail.
But it seems they still exist, after a fashion, and are open for business. Meanwhile I am sure they have competition from Amazon, like everyone does, and Carolina Biological Supply.
