I'm looking to set up my Sony A7iii with a microscope objective to capture extreme macros of minuscule details of flowers.
I have the following lenses:
Tokina Macro 100 F2.8D AT-X Pro (with a Sigma Mount Converter MC-11 Canon EF-E)
Sony 70mm-200mm G Master
Sigma 24mm-70mm
I inquired with a contact at RAF camera who mentioned the following (NOTE: I excluded my macro lens as I didn't have it when I inquired):
Your lenses have 82mm and 77mm filter threads correspondingly.
We make 77mm step-down rings to different microscope objectives, but you did not tell what thread your microscope objective has.
Also, I can't give you good advice on building your setup since I don't shoot myself.
1. Which of my 3 lenses mentioned above would be best to use with a microscope objective/adapter setup?
I'm assuming the Macro as it will allow for maximum magnification but i'm relatively new to this so I'm seeking guidance
2. Which adapter should i be purchasing which will fit my camera and a suggested microscope objective?
I've found this shop which sells a number of options for the Sony E-Mount, but without an objective currently in my inventory and without an idea of which lens would be best for these purposes, i'm unsure which adapter I should be purchasing. I'm just unsure of the different terminology used for the adapters in terms of thread sizes and how they fit into eachother etc. (male/female)
3. Which microscope objective would be best/most compatible moving forward?
I've found some relatively expensive objectives as recommended by a colleague, but he wasn't able to help much more than recommending: https://www.edmundoptics.ca/p/20x-mitut ... tive/6625/
Are there any other comparable alternatives? Or more affordable alternatives which might get the job done?
4. If I decided to move forward with the 20x Mitutoyo objective linked in #3, how would you recommend I go about understanding the thread sizes / female / male terminology required to purchase the appropriate parts? Anyone have the knowledge to help me understand a little better? Any resources/formulas/calculations etc might be useful (i.e. Sizes i need to consider, diameter, where I can find these dimensions
