Interesting. Have you photographed White Butterflies Pieris spp. and Sulphur Butterflies Colias spp. with your system? I believe these species have some patterns that we humans cannot see in normal light.

If you have a way to make them "freeze" for 2...4sec, then I may have a chance. UV-flash needs to be pretty close, so that won't work most likely. I'm working on a high power UV flash now which looks promising.

I've seen pics of dead species which shows some patterns though.
