” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”

One for each of the fingers you'd probably lose in the process? (No smiley on that.)
This is a very clean image. You'd probably appreciate some of the other skulls we've had in the forum. Bruce Williams did several back in 2007, like this one. Forum search on "skull" finds the ones I remember.

Thanks everyone.
Ken: Mink have 34 teeth; 16 in upper jaw, 18 in lower. The differences between jaws is that the lower has two molars on each side and the upper only 1 on each side.
P_T, luriek: The shark-like teeth are premolars and I believe are used for slicing through flesh rather than for grabbing.
That large back tooth on the upper jaw is the 3rd (last) premolar and it shears against the (hidden) 1st molar in the lower jaw. These are the carnassial teeth and used to cut through tendons and bone.
Doug: For the smaller road-kills I pick up the whole animal but for the larger ones such as racoon and beaver I just cut off the head hoping that there are no onlookers. Can't image what others think when they find a de-capitated racoon at the side of the road; perhaps some strange satanic cult in the neighbourhood.

I agree with all the compliments.

My images are a medium for sharing some of my experiences: they are not me.
