Like nearly all of my snakes, this is a captive subject, and his colors are spectacular. I wish the stem in front of him wasn't there, but I wasn't about to try to reach in and grab it, even if I could've done so!

There is a scientific dispute going on whether this is a separate species or merely a subspecies. They are native to the Philippines, in particular an island called Batan (nothing to do with the Bataan Peninsula).

Beautiful creature there Mike. I spent a lot of time in the Philippines but fortunately never ran across any of these in the wild. Of course with that bright yellow color, they certainly seem as though they would be hard to miss. :D
