Birth of a Magnolia Seed

This is from a Little Gem dwarf magnolia (Southern Magnolia) showing an immature receptacle and mature receptacle with the seed exiting the carpel. Shot with EOS 1DM4 and ef 100mm f2.8 macro lens.
