Giant Silk Moth - Part 2

Post by Marcepstein »

Here are a few more images of the giant silk moth (Antheraea polyphemus) that were taken a few years ago with a Canon 1DM3, ef 180mm f3.5 macro; the closeups were taken with an ef MP-E65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro. The flowering plant in the background is yellow jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens).

The eye spots are the moths the namesake, polyphemus, after the Greek mythological one-eyed cyclopes.
