Various arthropods at the table

Post by MarkSturtevant »

These are focus stacks done at my dining room table.

This orbweaver was a visitor to our porch, and its a new species for me. It is the humpbacked orbweaver (Eustala anastera), and it is a beautiful mimic of those greenish lichens so I put her on some of that for this stacked picture. Sometimes a picture cannot convey how cool something really looks, and this is one of those occasions. I really want to find another of these!

Lets stay with the spiders. Here is a long-legged sac spider (Cheiracanthium). As they are widely distributed, I suspect readers from around the world may be familiar with these spiders. They are commonly seen on the walls indoors.

And here is another species of sac spider. The broad-faced sac spider (Trachelas tranquillus) is larger and these stay outdoors.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Mark

I like the humpbacked orbweaver the best.
Nice markings and the color too.

Mark, expertly taken series. The orb weaver is the crown jewel of the series.
