Another microbenthic marine amphipod, Lembos websteri, common along the coast of Northern Spain. A female with embryos in her pouch. It's on branches of the bryozoan Crisia denticulata. 3,3X, JML 21 mm. Stack of 21 shots, stacked with Zerene.

Very nice picture!
The black background supports the colors and the pigment cells are well visible.
It is interesting that the ommatidia are hexagonal and not quadrangular as for example in Crangon crangon.

Yes, but Crangon crangon is a Decapod, while what we have here are Amphipods. The crustaceans are extremely diverse, and so seem to be their eyes . . .It is interesting that the ommatidia are hexagonal and not quadrangular as for example in Crangon crangon.
