Drosophila

Post by Guppy »

Hi

I hope Nikonuser agrees with me that the antennae also point to Drosophila, then I can remove the question mark in the heading.
The body length of the small fly is 4mm.

Camera: Nikon D810
Lens: MITUTOYO M Plan Apo 10X/0.28 ∞/0 f=200
Tube lens: Nikon ITL200
ISO: 64
Lighting: 4 flashes
Diffuser: white writing paper
Shooting file format (RAW/JPG): RAW
Image crop in % (width & height): 40, 19
Tripod: Reprostand
Species name: Drosophila
Stacking Software / Method: Zerene Stacker / PMax
Image scale: 12:1
Number of stack steps: 267
Average stack step size (mm) with Cognisys StackShot: 0.005

At each single eye (ommatidium) there is a short black hair.
On the left side of the image you can see well the reflection of the hairs in the single eyes, a little chaos.

Looks OK for Drosophila; antenna described as: arista plumose with dorsal and ventral rays, usually more than 2 ventrally.

I agree; excellent images, well presented.

I have a question: I am familiar with bleed in printing, but apparently missed the class on "bleed amount". What is it in this context, and why is it important?

Thanks for your indulgence!

Hi Leonard

Sorry, it is an automatic, wrong translation.
The German " Beschnittsbetrag ", is automatically and incorrectly translated as bleed amount or trim amount.
It ist the Image crop.
I'll correct it.
It is interesting for the evaluation and comparison of image quality.

Glad you like the pictures, thanks.

Kurt
