The body of this beetle is extremely flat and oval, about 8.5 millimeters long. Usually they stay on their food plants, which mainly include various mints but also hempnettle (Galeopsis), Lemon balm (Mellisa) and sage (Salvia).

An interesting perspective. We have a similar species in the same genus that uses thistle as its host plant. The larvae of tortoise beetles are really weird as they look like spiny trilobites.
