ID Please? Tiny herb/weed flower

Post by tatler56 »

Hi, hoping someone might put a name to this lovely tiny flower I found on my garden doorstep, Bedfordshire, UK. The flower is approx 2-3mm across, long straggly stems!
Can't find any pics on line!

Are these flowers or seedpods that have opened?

This sort of looks like an orchid to my ignorant eye, but I have no idea. There are online groups that will enthusiastically ID wildflowers in your area.

These look like the open remains of seedpods, with small seeds in them. The leaves looks as though they may belong to the genus Gallium. but identification by leaves is always difficult.
They are not our most common member of the genus, Gallium aparine or Cleavers or Goose Grass or Sticky Willie depending upon which part of the UK you were in when you first came across them. They have hooked hairs on the leaves and very distinct "fruits" which are also covered in hooked hairs.
