Weevil: different backgrounds

Post by Beatsy »

Just "using up" a weevil I inadvertently thawed out with another specimen. First two stacks at 6.5x (10x Mitty) last at 13x (20x Mitty). Same lighting setup for both lenses (diffuser surrounding a ping-pong ball surrounding the specimen). Light was a single COB lamp shining in the back of the main diffuser with bits of insulation tape and black card blocking light from certain directions.

Lighting etc remained about the same for all pics (apart from minor position shifts - nothing material). I only changed the background inside the ping-pong ball for each. First two were a bit of paper with green and blue Sharpie scribbles smudged with alcohol. It was moved a bit between first and second shots - hence the change of hue. Third pic had no background other than the black-painted back inside the ping-pong ball. The black paint is really dark brown - clearly.

Love the third image. Well done.
I'm in Canada! Isn't that weird?
