Woaaaaa that's a standout shot!
Re: Alien
Thank you all. I have quite a few beetles, which I plan to photograph in the coming months. Beetles are wonderful models and quite easy to work with, compared to other insects.

Hola Macrero
I like your way of lighting very much, masterly.
Have you shown your light setup anywhere yet?
Although the high quality of your pictures is not only due to the light setup.
Your editing is also exemplary.

Re: Alien
Kurt,
thank you for your kind words.
There is really nothing special in my lighting setup. I use 3 modded Ikea lamps with 1100 lm LEDs and simple "DIY" diffusers and reflectors (when needed).
I just play with the incidence of light and the distance between the light sources and the diffuser, until I get lighting I like.
I don't consider myself an expert in photo editing. But I do consider editing an essential part of the process, it makes a world of difference in the final result. I spend a considerable amount of time trying to get the most out of the RAWs and the stacked tiff, whether I succeed or not is another story... My editing skills still have a large room for improvement.

Re: Alien
Danke sehr, Kurt! Your Spanish is certainly better than my photos
This particular picture was not easy to edit. I made a beginner's mistake, framing without taking into account the pretty significant change in scale due to depth. So the stacked pictured came out very poorly framed, jaw almost touching bottom edge. I had to re-frame, kinda sloppy work, I must admit, it is quite obvious, I think. Curiously, I almost always see the faults after uploading the photo...
I have to buy an ultrasonic cleaner to clean my beautiful models. I'll be entertained through the winter
