How did you seemingly suspend this guy in mid air? Was it held in the back, then cloned out?

Interesting specimen!

I don't see any trace of recent damage where the base of that missing leg should be.

I suppose the leg was lost several molts ago, and the area has been remodeled since then. Not sure about this, though.

Yes, it could explain that. The wound has healed up in this way.
From the other perspective I cannot see much more details.
