We have two butterfly bushes on our property, and the other day a butterfly was flaing around on the ground on its back. I captured it and put it a 5X7 inch photo tray and covered it with another tray I had sprayed with ether. I noticed that the butterfly was being attacked by a bee or a wasp. It turned out to be a Bald-Faced Hornet (Dolichovespula maculata.

Re: Bald-Faced Hornet
Nice. I hear these can be nasty. I've never been stung by one. I'd like to keep it that way.
I'm in Canada! Isn't that weird?
