Hello: an impressive image!!.

Out of curiosity: how does the Nikon Coolscan 800 behave vs the Nikon Rayfact 95mm f2.8?

Could you show the setup to make the Rayfact telecentric?

Ramon,
I prefer the coolscan 800 for 1X and the Rayfact for 2X in telecentric mode.

Here is my setup for the shot of the hornet which I bought at a shop in Tokyo. They are kind of expensive but very high quality samples.

Here is the overall setup.

Image

The 25mm adjustable iris seats inside the adjustable 50mm long tube made by Raf Camera. It is located 41mm from the lens. Once the location is set, the Iris is adjusted to about minus one f stop.

Here is the details.

The adjustable tube is https://www.ebay.com/itm/50mm-M52x0-75- ... SwBIVdniqy

Hope it is clear to you.

Hello Chuong:

Yes, it is very clear to me.

It is also an impressive setup, and shows your improvements to achieve telecentricity with the Rayfact: an adjustable tube and a mechanical iris.

I am always fascinated by the setups we have to do to get a good image, .....

Congratulations, do not stop uploading new images.

Best regards.

I just finished watching an excellent video demystifying these big hornets:

That's one lovely specimen you have there! Apparently these things have queens that can be up to 51mm/2in, massive.

Spec-wise the Coolscan 8000ED lens is for 1x while the PN95 is for 2x and 0.5x, so they go hand-in-hand.
