Great Carpenter Bee

Post by cadman342001 »

So I got my WeMacro rail and have done a couple of stacks, here's the first.

Using the Proxxon table vertically now with a mini ball head as vertical stage.

This bee is approx. 1 inch / 25mm so even using the 55 micro nikkor reversed on 200mm f4 only got me this

I like this image very much! The eye is way cool!

If you want to get closer you might look into the Pentax Q system. You can use the same lenses, with a cheap adapter. That will give you 12MP of the eye only. Or how about the Nikon 1? The Pentax Q has a crop factor of 4.5. I use this for my 2-4mm large amber inclusions. With a 5x objective the photographed field is like 1x1,5mm!

Sorry, what I meant was that I could not get enough of the bee in the shot !

I have a 10x Nikon objective and various nikkor lenses reversed on the 200mm so I can do 4x to 10x

Lovely big beast.
You've tried reversing the 55mm straight on the camera/ with a tube?
