Playing around with a light pad

Post by Davids »

I bit the bullet and bought an Artograph LED Lightpad 930. So far I'm liking the results a lot. The light is on the cooler side and is labelled at 6500K. There is a "Pro" version which allows you to change the color temperature, but since I can do that relatively easy within the camera or in Lightroom I saw no need to upgrade.
One thing to note. The light can be dimmed, but dimming causes noticeable flickering within the viewfinder and the resultant image shows banding. At full power this is not an issue. I'm assuming this is a result of dimming via pulse-width modulation, but electrical engineering is not my forte.
