Thank goodness the ban on tungsten lighting only applies to regular tungsten lighting and not to quartz halogens and especially not to scientific and other specialty lighting.
The average consumer has no idea whatsoever , how wonderful the technology is, that he is totally surrounded by.
These pictures and Lothar's illustrate that very well.
If you want to frustrate yourself try to do something with tungsten wire some time. Or to build a structure as illustrated in massive quantities out of ANY kind of wire. And then implant it in a quartz envelope that can hold high pressure at almost white heat. Oh and fill it with a halogen gas too while you are at it. Then for an encore, sell it at a profit but at a VERY reasonable price.
