Hello.
I have a microscope objective that I bought years ago. It is a Leitz 170/- L 20/0.32 with iris included. I guess that was my motivation for the purchase.
I normally use a JMI x20 for that level of magnification but these days I have done some tests and I have been surprised because the Leitz offers approximately 1.5 more magnification than the JMI. The quality of the Leitz doesn't seem normal for that German brand either...
Can someone shed some light on this?

The leitz will give 20x or very close when set up right, but I would not expect it to be a good performer. Aside from the low NA it will expect some fairly hefty corrections applied by periplan eyepieces and is likely only rated for an 18 or maybe 20mm field number even with them.
