Mushroom gills

Post by Ramos Kenneth D »

Nothing spectacular, just some gill work while looking over a small mushroom. The gill area of the mushroom shown is approx. 1 cm. from stem (lower lefthand corner) to the edge of the cap diagonally. :)
EOS 7D with Sigma 105mm macro (1:1) w/36mm ext. tube, Canon 430EXII speedlight. Spot Imaging boom stand mount. Processing PhotoScape X :)

Ken,
If you place these, gill side down. on paper (white or coloured, depending on gill colour) you can get some neat patterns.

” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”

Thanks NU! Seems like a good way to expand ones knowledge in mushroom diversity. I will be giving it a try! :)
