Just a couple of fun images taken a few years ago of Southern (Anaxyrus terrestris) and Narrow-mouthed toads (Gastrophryne carolinensis). The Narrow-mouthed is a really neat little toad that has moist, smooth skin, lacks eardrums or tympana unlike many toads with rough, warty skin (e.g., the Southern toad). Narrow-mouthed toads feed on primarily ants. Their range is largely south central and eastern US. The Southern toad's range is more southernly. The shots were taken with Canon 1DM4 and ef 100mm f2.8 marco lens. Thanks for looking.

All these are really good but I especially like that portrait shot at the last.

Good stuff! I was curious about the narrow-mouth toad since I had not known of it. It apparently is a frog and not a true toad, despite its name and appearance.

Re: Southern and Narrow-mouthed Toads
Yes, microhylid frog. I’m not sure why they call it a toad except it lives in uplands for part of its life. Breeding is aquatic.. more info…
. I don’t see them very often.
