Mayfly Mayhem
A couple of mayflies found in the backyard. I just love their "texture", so medieval looking to me.
This one is from June, kind of ragged looking and I noticed a "skin" nearby so it may have just molted. Sixteen image hand stack at 5x with Canon 1Dx and Canon MPE 65mm.
This one is from yesterday, single shot at 5x before it flew off with Canon 1Dx and MPE 65mm.- MarkSturtevant

Re: Mayfly Mayhem
Very good! The insane eyes on the first one identifies it as a male. The big upward facing eyes are thought to be used to look for females.

They really are amazing. I recently came across an animation of how they work in motionMarkSturtevant wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 2:48 pmVery good! The insane eyes on the first one identifies it as a male. The big upward facing eyes are thought to be used to look for females.
