An appealing collection. The flowering of "weeds" is often most attractive.

I prefer to call them wildflowers.leonardturner wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 3:28 amAn appealing collection. The flowering of "weeds" is often most attractive.

Much of the stuff we ignore outdoors, when viewed close up, takes on an entirely new, often fascinating, look. Take the slime mold fruiting bodies featured this month.

Re: Woodland Sunflower
Klevin, it was not my intent to denigrate wildflowers; that's why "weeds" was enclosed in quotation marks.

Beautiful daisies. Though the word weed applies to gardens.

Nice shots. That is Wingstem you have there - Verbesina alternifolia - from the Aster family. It is native to most of the eastern US. They grow very tall. I used a step ladder the last time I shot them. Woodland sunflower Helianthus divaricatus is a different plant. It is native to the eastern US, as well.

Re: Woodland Sunflower
Very nice. Native sunflowers are an interesting and complicated subject. There are some well established species of them that are found to be interspecies hybrids between other species.
